If you are moving out of Pune, sending your car on a carrier is often safer and cheaper than driving it hundreds of kilometres. Here is what to expect.
Before pickup
- Keep about a quarter tank of fuel.
- Remove personal items, toll tags and loose accessories.
- Keep copies of the RC and insurance with you.
Inspection and loading
We check the car with you and take photos of its condition. The car is then driven onto the carrier and secured with wheel locks and straps so it cannot move during the journey.
In transit
The carrier travels on the main highway routes. Transit time depends on the distance; for example, Pune to Mumbai is short, while Pune to Bangalore or Pune to Delhi takes a few days.
Delivery
At delivery, we check the car together with you against the photos taken at pickup before handing over the keys.
Open or closed carrier?
Most cars travel on an open carrier that takes several cars at once. It is safe and costs less. A closed carrier protects the car from dust and weather completely and is often chosen for new or premium cars. Tell us which you prefer when you ask for a quote.
How long does it take?
Transit time depends on the distance. Pune to Mumbai is usually delivered in a day or two, Pune to Bangalore or Hyderabad in a few days, and Pune to Delhi or Kolkata in about a week. If you can be flexible by a few days, we can match your car with a carrier already going that way.
Car transport or driving yourself?
Driving a long route takes two or three days, adds hundreds of kilometres to the car, and means paying for fuel, tolls, food and hotels. For most long moves, a carrier works out about the same cost or cheaper, and you arrive fresh in the new city.
Documents to keep ready
- A copy of the RC (registration certificate).
- A copy of the car insurance.
- Your ID proof.
- For a stay of more than a year in another state, check the rules for re-registering your car there.
